One such area is the face, many choose to opt for minimally invasive treatments to help soften lines and wrinkles, but what are our choices when it comes to our brows.

Eyebrow Ageing

The eyebrows are one of the defining factors of the face and many of us take care to groom, dye and shape them to complement our facial features and overall appearance.

Our eyebrows are not exempt from ageing however, and they can start to sink making our eyes look tired and sagging. The skin around the eyebrows can start to lose structural support due to a reduction of proteins and tissues within the skin.

This is when many start to look for treatments to help lift and restore the brows for a more refreshed look.

What is an Ultherapy brow lift?

Ultherapy is a bespoke treatment that can be personally tailored to your needs.

Ultherapy stimulates and regenerates collagen and elastin in a specific area using micro-focused ultrasound technology. This unique technology is able to target the skin at the same depths targeted by surgeons, without the need for any incisions.

Once the new collagen and elastin are stimulated and established, the upper eyelids will be gently raised, giving the eyebrow a youthful, vibrant appearance again.

An Ultherapy brow lift procedure involves no downtime. It also generates exceptional outcomes that can last up to 18 months.

What is a blepharoplasty?

An upper blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is used to reduce sagging eyelids by removing excess skin, muscle and fat from the area. Removing excess skin and tissues from this area can really help to open the eye area providing a more youthful and less tired looking appearance.

A blepharoplasty is not predominately focused on treating the eyebrow, but by reducing excess skin in this area, it can provide a slight lifting effect in certain cases.

What is a brow lift?

A brow lift is a surgical procedure that can effectively lift the eyebrows. It may also be referred to as a forehead lift as the treatment involves raising the tissue and skin of both the forehead and brow area. There are a variety of brow lift techniques which your surgeon will recommend for you based on your desired result, these include:

Endoscopic Brow Lift
Temporal Brow Lift
Coronal Brow Lift
Direct Brow Lift
Hairline Brow Lift

The incision for a brow lift is usually made within the hairline, but certain techniques such as Direct brow lift involve an incision directly above the eyebrow, so this is best for those with larger brows.

A brow lift typically takes 1-2 hours to perform. Some downtime may be involved as swelling is common post-procedure. The results from the treatment are best seen after 6 weeks. As this is a surgical procedure, the results are permanent, but a brow lift is not able to stop the effects of ageing.

What procedure is best for a brow lift?

The best treatment choice for a brow lift depends entirely on your own personal preferences and goals from surgery.

An Ultherapy brow lift is a great non-surgical option, but further treatments will be required to maintain the results.

A blepharoplasty could be a great option for someone with a mild brow droop but if you are looking for a more obvious lift, then a surgical brow lift would be a better treatment choice.

A brow lift is one of the best options if you are happy with undergoing a surgical procedure. Whilst there is some downtime, the results are permanent.

Ultherapy vs Hifu – What’s best for skin tightening? https://antiwrinklefree.com/2025/01/20/ultherapy-vs-hifu-whats-best-for-skin-tightening/ https://antiwrinklefree.com/2025/01/20/ultherapy-vs-hifu-whats-best-for-skin-tightening/#respond Mon, 20 Jan 2025 09:27:36 +0000 https://antiwrinklefree.com/?p=19 Patients seeking non-surgical facial rejuvenation often ask us what’s the difference between Ultherapy and Hifu and which treatment is best? The Private Clinic is one of the UK’s leading Ultherapy clinic providers and our clinical teams and patients are convinced of its effectiveness. But let’s explore this comparison so you can see why we consider Ultherapy superior to Hifu.

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment that uses micro-focused ultrasound with visualisation (MFU-V) energy. This type of energy can treat depths of the skin that other non-invasive treatments are unable to reach. The treatment works to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin which reverses the visible signs of ageing. The increase in collagen results in a significant lift to the areas treated over time.

What is Hifu?

Hifu or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound treatment is a skin tightening treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. The treatment encourages collagen production which then in turn, results in tighter and smoother skin over time.

What are the differences between Ultherapy and Hifu?

Whilst both descriptions of the treatment do sound similar, there are many differences between both treatments.

Is Ultherapy safer and more effective than Hifu?
Research

Having been available for much longer than Hifu, Ultherapy is one of the most researched skin enhancement and anti-ageing technologies of its kind. Ultherapy results have been independently verified and supported by over 110 studies and research papers (60 peer-renewed papers and 50 clinical studies). Hifu treatments have only been studied a small number of times for their efficacy and patient satisfaction. This is a big reason why Ultherapy comes recommended by most doctors and cosmetic specialists as the gold-standard skin tightening treatment.
DeepSEE Technology

The biggest reason why Ultherapy is a safer treatment is that it uses unique DeepSEE technology and micro-focused ultrasound energy. This technology means there is no risk of hitting fat cells, blood vessels or muscles in the process. Hifu is performed blind. This is because practitioners are not able to see the layers of skin they are treating, or how it is making an impact. Not only does this put you at risk, but your results are unlikely to be as effective. If Hifu treatment hits fat cells within the face then it can cause hollow areas on the face. This can cause more lines and wrinkles.
FDA Approved Treatment

Being EU CE certified and FDA cleared for skin tightening, Ultherapy is medically rated ahead of Hifu which only has limited FDA clearance for treating certain areas. Where clinics perform Hifu treatments against its planned use, often the risks can outweigh the benefits.

Celebrity Endorsement

Ultherapy is endorsed by several celebrities including, actress Jennifer Aniston, model Christie Brinkley and presenter Tess Daly.

Non Surgical Face Lift, Minimally Invasive Facelift Alternatives https://antiwrinklefree.com/2025/01/20/non-surgical-face-lift-minimally-invasive-facelift-alternatives/ https://antiwrinklefree.com/2025/01/20/non-surgical-face-lift-minimally-invasive-facelift-alternatives/#respond Mon, 20 Jan 2025 09:16:07 +0000 https://antiwrinklefree.com/?p=16 A facelift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that lifts up and pulls back the skin on the face to result in a tighter and smoother appearance. It is very effective on patients who have sagging around the lower half of the face, jowls and neck.

Facelifts however are a big deal; patients who are looking to have a facelift will need to schedule a substantial amount of recovery time post procedure which is why many patients are now seeking non-surgical alternatives with less downtime in order to rejuvenate their appearance. A recent example is Judy Murray, mum of UK tennis icon Andy Murray, who has undergone a non-surgical facelift to lift her turkey neck while targeting her skin pigmentation issues.

Of course, a chemical peel or laser treatment is never going to be able to replicate what a facelift can do but they are very effective at eliminating some of the signs of ageing and produce some impressive results.

One Stitch Facelift

Our ‘One Stitch Facelift’ is still a surgical procedure but we felt it was worth adding to this list. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and has very minimal recovery time in comparison to a standard surgical facelift. The one stitch facelift targets the mid-face helping to improve the jaw line. There is a very low risk of swelling and bruising and the incision is hidden within the hairline

The Temporal facelift is very similar in style to the one stitch facelift but this procedure concentrates on the eyebrows to the midface area so ideal if you are looking for an upper facial lift. The temporal facelift is performed under local anaesthetic and the short 5-6cm scar is hidden within the temporal hair line and patients have minimal downtime post procedure.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-surgical facelift, skin tightening procedure that uses micro-focused ultrasound with visualisation (MFU-V) energy. Celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Christie Brinkley and Kim Kardashian have all used Ultherapy for a neck lift making it a popular choice with many of our patients. Ultherapy treatment is ideal for reducing the appearance of sagging skin, sagging jowls, poor skin laxity, turkey neck, sagging eyelids and lines and wrinkles on the décolletage.

Treatment time can take as little as 30 minutes and there is no downtime aside from some slight redness to the treated areas for an hour or 2 post procedure. Ultherapy treatment is FDA-approved and has had over 1 million treatments performed worldwide. The results from treatment are gradual but many patients see the initial signs of lifting in the days following treatment. The best results from treatment will be more visible after 3-6 months which is how long it takes for the new collagen to build and lift the skin.

Thread Lift

A thread lift is a minimally invasive treatment that lifts sagging areas of the face without the need for sedation or a hospital stay. A thread lift procedure involves lifting different parts of the face using specialised threads without the need for surgical incisions. Common areas to be treated are sagging cheeks, deep lines and wrinkles, jowls, forehead wrinkles and jawline definition. The benefit of a thread lift is instant and long-lasting results, minimal downtime, an increase in natural collagen production and no stitches are required.

Thread Lift specialists, Dr Charlotte Woodward and Dr Victora Manning from River Aesthetics have joined our aesthetics team to offer a premium thread lift experience to patients at clinics in London Harley Street and Bournemouth. Their clinic has been named Best Clinic in the UK for Threads by Tatler Magazine in 2022 & 2023. With over 30 years of combined experience between them, they are highly regarded as the UK’s leading thread lift doctors.

Injectable Treatments

Injectable treatments are quickly becoming a popular alternative for facial surgery such as facelifts and blepharoplasty procedures.

Dermal fillers are a great place to start as they are really effective at restoring lost volume in the face which can result in a sunken and hollow appearance, especially around the cheeks, eyes and lips.

Anti-wrinkle injections help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles resulting in an overall rejuvenated appearance.

The 8 point lift is a technique that uses dermal fillers to combat the soft tissue loss associated with the ageing process and results last for up to 18 months with no downtime.

How to Look Younger with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photorejuvenation https://antiwrinklefree.com/2025/01/20/how-to-look-younger-with-ipl-intense-pulsed-light-photorejuvenation/ https://antiwrinklefree.com/2025/01/20/how-to-look-younger-with-ipl-intense-pulsed-light-photorejuvenation/#respond Mon, 20 Jan 2025 09:03:32 +0000 https://antiwrinklefree.com/?p=13 Wanting to look younger is a common request that we get from patients who come to visit us in clinic. Ageing can take a toll on your skin causing fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation such as brown spots, and redness which can then be tricky to treat despite the number of creams and lotions that you use.
Deciding to go ahead with a cosmetic treatment is a big decision but choosing which one is best can be tricky. We encourage our patients to come in for a skin consultation where we can assess your skin, listen to your concerns, and give you realistic advice on what you are going to be able to achieve and which treatments we believe are going to work best.

IPL Photorejuvenation is a popular treatment; it targets several different skin issues including:

Pigmentation and Sun Spots

If you have noticed little brown dots or brown patches that have started to appear on your skin as you age, they are called sunspots also known as age spots or liver spots. They are caused by UV exposure where your skin has produced too much melanin. They are common on the face, arms hands, and chest. They are not harmful, but they can cause your skin complexion to look uneven and many just do not like the appearance of them.
IPL Photorejuvenation treatment uses intense pulsed light (IPL) technology which is attracted to the colour of cells causing the dark pigmentation. The IPL wavelengths are absorbed by the melanin and haemoglobin in the skin cells which causes the pigment to fragment. These fragments can then be broken down naturally by your body which will result in the sun spots from the skin reducing in appearance making them less visible.

Redness

Facial redness is often a temporary issue caused by overheating or skin sensitivity but for some the redness can be permanent in some areas and in most cases, this is caused by ageing or rosacea. The tiny blood vessels in your skin become damaged and start to appear at the surface of the skin.
IPL Photo rejuvenation can treat many instances of facial redness in a similar method to how it treats pigmentation and sunspots. The wavelengths are absorbed by the red veins which makes them become hot and damaged, and they break up ready to be absorbed by the body.

Lines and Wrinkles

Wrinkles are one of the most visible and common signs of ageing and although there are many treatments that can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, IPL Phototherapy for wrinkles is a great option that helps to treat the skin giving a brighter and fresher appearance.
The intense pulsed light beams heat the collagen deep in the skin which causes the skin to react by producing more collagen which is known as Neocollagenesis. As the new collagen is produced, this will help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

What are the benefits of IPL Photorejuvenation?

There are so many benefits to IPL including:

It does not damage the skin.
Suitable for most skin types.
Treats the whole skin rather than just the targeted areas.
Natural and long-lasting results
No need for incisions or injections
Quick treatment sessions
Minimal side effects and downtime

Age spots, dry skin, crow’s feet, wrinkles, sagging skin, dark circles and generally looking tired are all big contributors to ageing skin. There are lots of ways to help prevent these, one of the most important is regular use of sun protection but staying hydrated, reducing alcohol consumption and eating a healthy diet are all going to help reduce the signs of ageing. At The Private Clinic, we see many patients come to see us seeking anti-ageing treatments. We are not able to stop the ageing process, but we can help your skin look healthy and reduce the appearance of elements that can cause you to look older.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is one of the most innovative ways to rejuvenate ageing skin. It is an ideal treatment to help even out areas of discolouration and can also reduce the appearance of fine lines. The procedure involves treating the top layer of the skin with pulses of light in a pre-selected pattern.

We use Pearl, Pearl Fractional, and Pearl Fusion laser skin resurfacing.
Three different treatments allow us to create a tailored experience that meets the needs of your skin to deliver the best possible outcome.
Effective at treating pigmentation, age spots, sun damage, acne scars and wrinkles.
Suitable for the face and neck.
Treatment times are approximately 20-30 minutes for the full face.
A period of downtime may be required where skin may appear red and flaky for 3-5 days.
Best results are seen after a course of treatment.
Laser Skin Resurfacing is available at London Harley Street.

Dermal Filler

Dermal fillers are one of the most popular anti-ageing treatments. Fillers are made from Hyaluronic Acid, which is a natural substance found in the body. Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water which helps to hydrate the skin. As well as keeping the skin hydrated, when injected, it is also able to plump and volume to the skin which in turn can also reduce the appearance of fine lines.

Dermal Fillers can add volume and definition to the face.
Particularly effective in creating more prominent cheeks, fuller lips and reducing the appearance of lines around the nose and mouth.
Dermal fillers can also be used at certain points in the face to give the impression of a facelift which is known as the 8 point lift.
Treatment takes around 30 minutes to perform.
Results are instant, but they are best seen a week or so after treatment once any swelling has subsided.
Minimal downtime, some patients may experience bruising and swelling but this should disappear within a week.
Results can last anywhere from 4 to 13 months depending on the areas being treated and the type of filler used.

Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle or wrinkle reduction injections are our second most popular anti-ageing treatment. Wrinkle injections are made from Botulinum Toxin. Small doses are injected into the areas being treated which then work to relax the muscles that are responsible for forming the wrinkles.

Effective at reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Treatment takes around 30 minutes.
Results are not instant and can take up to 10 days to be seen.
Treated areas may appear a little red following treatment and in rare cases, bruising may appear but this should disappear within a few days.
Results can last from 3 to 6 months.
Regular treatments are required to maintain the results.
Wrinkle Injections are available at our London Harley Street, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Northampton.

Profhilo

Profhilo is a great treatment for skin rejuvenation. The unique bioremodelling injectable treatment contains hyaluronic acid but it does not does not plump or add any volume to the areas treated. The solution instead spreads within the skin to remodel the skins structure, nourish the dermal cells and treat skin laxity restoring the firmness of your skin.

Treatment times are around 30 minutes
Can be performed on any area of the body.
Popular treatment areas include the face, décolletage and hands.
To achieve the best results, you will need two treatments spaced a month apart.
Results of Profhilo are not seen until 8-10 weeks following your first treatment.
A great treatment to help boost the effects of dermal filler and anti-wrinkle injections.
Profhilo is available at our London Harley Street, Birmingham, Northampton, Leeds and Manchester.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a non-surgical skin tightening procedure that uses micro-focused ultrasound with visualisation (MFU-V) energy to treat depths of the skin not matched by any other non-invasive cosmetic device. Ultrasound is used during your Ultherapy treatment to ensure you recieve the most precise treatment. The treatment works to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin which helps to reverse the visible signs of ageing.

Effective at treating sagging skin, sagging jowls, turkey neck, drooping eyelids/brows and lines and wrinkles.
Treatment time from 30 minutes.
Can be performed on the Face, Neck & décolletage.
